THE VIKING RACE is a F3F class radio-control model glider flying event, which takes place ever second year.  It is a timed racing event, where each pilot races against the clock, flying ten legs of a 100 metre course, and completing as many rounds as possible during the week-long event.   Historically, it began about 20 years ago as a friendly contest between countries where Vikings had invaded in the past - eg Norway, Sweden Scotland, etc.  The event has become so popular now that in 2006 we entertained 89 competitors from 18 different nations.  The friendly event has become a world-class competition attracting the best of the best!

The 2006 event took place in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland, between the 9th and 15th September.  Due to the prevailing wind conditions, most of the flying took place on the slopes of the East Lomond hill, near the village of Falkland.
